Forina's Absol finally arrived!

My little fan-made Absol plush posing with one of the more unusual early Absol promos! 🖤

Forina’s Absol 040/ADV-P was released in Japan during the ADV era as a promotional card tied to Jirachi: Wish Maker. Unlike a normal set card, this Absol wasn't something you could simply pull from a booster—it was distributed through the Pokémon Card Gym Official Start Lottery, making it one of Absol’s more unusual early Japanese releases.

The card is illustrated by Atsuko Nishida, the original designer of several iconic Pokémon, and depicts Forina’s Absol rather than an ordinary Absol. Forina is the location featured in Jirachi: Wish Maker, where Absol appears during the film, which explains the special 「ファウンスのアブソル」 name printed at the top of the card.

There are actually two different cards of Forina’s Absol to collect. The first is 008/019 from the Movie Commemoration VS Pack, while this 040/ADV-P version was released separately through the Card Gym lottery. Both are Non-Holo and use artwork by Atsuko Nishida, but they feature different illustrations—giving Absol collectors a neat little pair of Japanese-exclusive artworks from the same movie era.

Unlike many Japanese Absol cards that eventually received an international counterpart, neither Forina’s Absol artwork was officially released in English, making the pair especially fun pieces for an Absol-focused collection.

And of course, the best way to display a card about a special Absol is with another special Absol.

Official Japanese lottery promo + completely unofficial handmade Absol = perfect pair. 🖤✨
